Every day brings new questions.
Should I stay? Should I go? Buy it? Sell it? Start it? Stop it?Did you know there's a question that makes it easy to determine the answer to all the other questions?
All you have to do is ask it!
An angry king. Devastating drought. Epic opposition. And one man who overcomes it all. When the world around us is spinning out of control, where do we turn? Join us as we learn from Elijah.
Jonah's story gives us the perfect example of how merciful God is. God wanted Jonah to bring His message to the people of Nineveh, however Jonah ran to a place far away. Join us as we examine this story and see how God’s persistence wears down our resistance.
Over the last several weeks we have heard a variety of ways in which we may awaken and find our way back to God. Whether by awakening to longing, regret, help, love, and/or life, we have been moved by the stories of people in our congregation who have allowed God to redeem difficult circumstances. In pursuing awakening, there is a question that reveals itself once we have it: “What next?” Our upcoming series, Playing for Keeps, attempts to answer this question. Playing for Keeps is a series about what happens when we go ‘all in’ to deepen the faith to which God has awakened us. In this series we will address six things every person needs over time, and since time is limited, our days of influence are limited. Here at Statesboro FUMC, we believe that every family matters, and we want to help you do family well. That’s why we think it’s time to start Playing for Keeps by becoming intentional with the time we have been given and realize that every week we have with our families and/or church family matters! Each message of the Playing for Keeps series identifies one thing you are probably already doing…that has the potential to make a significant impact if you keep doing it...over time. Invite a friend and join us beginning next week as we “play for keeps” and see how an awakened faith can generate a closer and more passionate and purposeful family
How fitting it is that during Lent we are able to give up the things that seemingly have power over us in order for God to ultimately have the greatest power over us. And what do we gain in return? Awakening - an awakening to faith, to depending on God for our every need - all of which culminates in the great awakening that happens at Easter with Jesus’ resurrection.
We are incredibly excited to begin a new series this week called Awaken. In this series with Lent as our backdrop, we will identify different types of Awakening that can move us into a deeper faith. We will also hear powerful testimonies from individuals in our own congregation who have encountered hardship in some manner and managed to experience an awakening in their faith as a result.
We are certain that God is going to powerfully move as you hear the moving stories of people in our church, and it is our hope that we will collectively be further awakened and activated to a more vibrant faith. So, during this Lent season, we invite you to sacrifice and give up something extraneous that distracts you from God and commit to activating and awakening your faith, and, as we prepare for the coming resurrection at Easter, we hope you will prayerfully invite people who could use an awakening in their faith as we celebrate together the power of what God is doing in the life of our church!
What time is it? Where did all the time go? Does time really fly when you’re having fun? Maybe we think about time so much because there never seems to be enough of it. Maybe there’s only one question we need to ask. What am I doing with my time?
Simple question? Easy answer? It’s time you found out. In this 5-part series based on a series by Andy Stanley of Northpoint Church, we will help you discover that answer. Don’t waste another second.
