Safe Sanctuaries

Safe Sanctuaries

Our Safe Sanctuaries Policy includes procedures and standards that guide our church in safely welcoming and serving children, youth, and vulnerable adults in our ministries. As a community of faith, we pledge to conduct the ministry of the Gospel in ways that assure the safety and spiritual growth of all of our children, youth and vulnerable adults, as well as all our volunteers and staff.

So, we follow proven procedures as we select and recruit volunteers and staff; we follow best practices within all programs and events; we train all of our volunteers and staff who serve with children and youth; we have established procedures for reporting a suspected incident of abuse to the proper authorities; and we have plans for how to respond if an incident or allegation occurs.

In all our ministries, Statesboro First is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each person will be "…surrounded by steadfast love, established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal." We are blessed by the volunteers and staff who generously share their attention, gifts, and commitment to what God is doing here.
We are offering our volunteer adults, our volunteers who are under 18, and our staff - specific videos and assessments tailored to help train us in protecting our children, youth and vulnerable adults, our volunteers and staff, and our church. We have implemented an online training platform to serve as our home base for online training. Volunteers are able to work through our training courses at their own pace. The church also maintains records of volunteer training and background checks, so you can be assured that staff and volunteers are aware of best practices to mitigate the risk of boundaries being crossed.
For all church volunteers, before working with any children, youth, or vulnerable adults. You will be asked by a Ministry leader to complete the Safe Sanctuaries Training Course.
